Citrine

The name comes from its lemon yellow color. Citrines in their natural form are rare. Most commercial Citrine's color are brought out via heat-treatment. Citrine deposits are found Brazil (Bahia, Goyez, Minas Gerais), Malagasy Republic, the U.S. (Pikes Peak, Colorado), Spain (Cordoba, Salamanca), Russia (Mursinska/Ural), France and Scotland. Ring and pendent stones are well colored to transparent. Less attractive stones are made into necklaces or ornaments. Can be confused with all yellow gemstones especially yellow beryl, orthoclase, yellow topaz, and yellow tourmaline.
